ABOUT

I am a New York-based psychotherapist providing telehealth therapy to adolescents, adults, couples, and parents throughout New York State. I specialize in adult psychotherapy, parenting support, and school-related concerns, including IEP and special education advocacy.

I work with adults navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, and relationship challenges—and parents seeking guidance with behavior, school concerns, and IEP advocacy. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to support your child, I can help.

I use an eclectic, interdisciplinary approach integrating cognitive therapy with insight-oriented psychotherapy to support increased self-awareness, emotional regulation, and more intentional decision-making.

THINGS TO KNOW

  • I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) providing telehealth therapy to adolescents, adults, couples, and parents throughout New York State. I received my Master's in Social Work from Hunter College and was awarded The Clark Foundation Fellowship from Baruch College.

I specialize in adult psychotherapy, parenting support, and school-related concerns—including IEP navigation and special education advocacy. My therapeutic approach integrates cognitive and insight-oriented psychotherapy, tailored to meet each individual's needs. Whether you're managing anxiety, navigating a life transition, or seeking support for your child, I provide a thoughtful, collaborative space to explore concerns and move forward with clarity.

  • I work collaboratively with clients to explore how thoughts, emotions, past experiences, and relational patterns contribute to anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, and life transitions.

Cognitive therapy offers practical tools to manage overwhelm and negative thought patterns. Insight-oriented work allows for a deeper understanding of long-standing emotional and relational dynamics. My approach is warm, thoughtful, and tailored to each individual's needs—supporting increased self-awareness, emotional regulation, and more intentional decision-making.

If you're feeling stuck or uncertain about your next step, therapy can help you gain clarity and confidence.

  • I provide an integrative approach that draws on multiple modalities. I offer individual and couple sessions, as well as parent consultations focused on behavioral concerns at home and in school. Areas of expertise include:

    • Anxiety & Stress Management

    • Life Transitions

    • Depression & Mood Disorders

    • Relationship Issues

    • Self-Esteem

    • Trauma & PTSD

    • Parenting Support & Consultation

    • IEP & Special Education Advocacy

  • Therapy is important and worth pursuing because it offers a fresh perspective on an issue and gives you a better understanding of your emotions. Through this, therapy can promote self-esteem and improve relationships and your outlook on life.

  • I offer therapy services via Telehealth. Assessments and referrals are provided on a case-by-case basis.

Telehealth (online sessions) is a convenient and confidential way to experience the benefits of therapy from the comfort of your own home. I offer 45-minute virtual therapy sessions within New York State.

  • Parenting can be both rewarding and overwhelming. I offer parent coaching and short-term consultations to help you better understand your child's behavior, emotions, and learning needs—and feel more confident in your next steps.

I support parents with concerns related to emotional regulation, anxiety, behavior at home or school, developmental questions, and navigating school evaluations, IEPs, and supports. These sessions are parent-focused, providing a thoughtful space to explore concerns and develop practical strategies.

Consultations are collaborative and grounded in developmental and clinical expertise.

  • In addition to my therapeutic work, I offer supervision for therapists at a mental health clinic, ensuring the highest quality of care for clients. I also conduct educator workshops in school settings, equipping teachers and staff with effective strategies to support students' well-being and emotional growth.

  • What's a first session like?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I'll ask about what's bringing you to therapy, your background, and what you're hoping to get out of our work together. You can ask me questions too. There's no pressure—just a conversation to see if we're a good fit.

How long do people typically come to therapy?

It varies. Some clients come for a few months to work through a specific issue; others stay longer for deeper, ongoing support. For parent consultations, many families find clarity within 3–5 sessions. We'll check in regularly and adjust based on your needs.

    Do you take insurance?

Insurance coverage depends on the type of service. Here's how it works:

    • Therapy: I accept some insurance plans. Contact me to verify if I'm in-network with yours.

    • Parent Coaching: Private pay only. Insurance does not cover parent coaching because it's consultative (focused on parenting strategies and school concerns) rather than mental health treatment. I can provide a superbill, but reimbursement is unlikely.

What's the difference between therapy and parent coaching?

Therapy is for individuals or couples who want to explore their own emotions, patterns, and challenges. Parent coaching is consultative—it focuses specifically on your child's behavior, development, or school concerns, and helps you feel more confident in your approach as a parent.

    How do I get started?

Reach out via the contact form or email me at robin@robingattegno.com. I'll respond within 1–2 business days to schedule a brief phone consultation.
